You just got some braids Clip-in extensions Bought your hair and realized they're longer than your natural hair? If you have enough wefts, it probably won't even be noticeable. You want an extension, and you'll get that with your new clip-ins. But if you just want to thicken your hair a bit and now have a few strands sticking out at the bottom, it looks anything but natural. It's time to trim your clip-ins! In this blog post, we'll introduce you to several methods for trimming your extensions without having to go to a salon.
1. Adjustment cut

It sounds easier than it is. An adjustment cut is always necessary when your Real hair extensions are much longer than your natural hair and look unnatural. Even if your natural hair has layers, you should adjust your extensions to bring authenticity and naturalness to your look.
So insert your clip-ins into your own hair and brush them with the Extension brush Brush thoroughly to remove any tangles and knots. As always, be careful to avoid the joins to avoid damaging them. Don't stop brushing until your brush glides easily through your hair.
As a next step, you can dampen your hair with a little water to straighten it, or alternatively, you can straighten it with a flat iron to get a good idea of the length. Take a close look at how long your extensions are compared to your real hair. This is best done with two large mirrors, one in front of you and one behind you.

Depending on the look you want to create, now comes the cut. To do this, divide your hair into several sections and then hold them between your index and middle fingers. Cut along your fingers. Try to take off a little less at a time, as you can gradually cut more.
We recommend purchasing special hairdressing scissors. These are much sharper than regular household scissors. This, in turn, results in less hair breakage, as the hair is cut cleanly and not torn, as with blunt scissors.
2. Adjust

After cutting your extensions, you can perfect your natural look by blending them in with the rest of your hair.
For this you should use a suitable Extension shampoo Wash thoroughly. Then use the Rubin Extensions Conditionerto give your hair an irresistible shine. We have a dedicated page on caring for clip-in extensions where you'll find all the information you need! To summarize: You don't need to use any friction; simply soak the hairpieces in lukewarm water with shampoo and rinse thoroughly. Then repeat the process with conditioner. Be careful not to tangle the ends too much.

You should dry your hair extensions with a hairdryer set to the coldest setting and pointing it at a distance of approximately 15 to 20 cm from your hair.
If you dye your hair regularly, you can also dye your extensions the same color. Even if your hair color is natural, you can customize your extensions to perfectly match your hair tone.

3. Trimming
Trimming is similar to cutting, but instead of using conventional scissors, you use special step or thinning scissors or even a razor.
The advantage of these scissors is that the transitions between the extensions and your own hair are smoother.
The procedure is the same as for cutting. Simply hold the strand of hair between your index and middle fingers and gently glide the scissors through your hair. You can also beautifully frame your face by gliding from top to bottom with the thinning scissors.

It's better to remove a little less hair first and then trim again if necessary.
You can also use these techniques on Tape-in extensions, Bonding Extensions, Microring extensions and Flip-in extensions Ponytail and bang extensions can also be cut, but this is not necessary.
Save yourself another trip to the salon, saving you time and money. You'll see that the more often you cut your own hair, the more practiced you'll become with your extensions.
