5 Extensions Styling Tips

Styling tips for your Extensions

You've already got your hair styling pretty well under control. You know what your hair needs, what dries it out, and what gives it shine. We all learn from our experiences, and we've certainly gathered a few here.

With extensions, however, everything is new again. Your previous care routine no longer works. Extensions require something very special. They need nutrients and much more moisture than your natural hair. They shouldn't be washed or blow-dried upside down, you shouldn't use too much heat, and so on and so forth.

So there are certainly many unique features, but styling extensions sometimes overlaps with styling your own hair. After all, it's just hair.

In this new blog post we would like to share with you 5 tips on how to use the special Extension care and the styling of your Hair extensions We would also like to give you some special ideas on how you can Clip-in extensions and you can also show off permanent hair extensions to great effect.

1. Brush before styling and only when dry

Never brush your hair extensions or thickenings when they are wet. Wet hair is much more elastic than dry hair and breaks easily. Split ends are inevitable. There are special terry towels that are gentle on the hair structure. An old T-shirt works perfectly, too. Wrap your hair in them and let it dry for a while. Blow-dry it gently and only start brushing when it is almost dry. Always use a leave-in conditioner or a styling and Care spray.

2. Turn the temperature down

When styling with heat, heat protection is essential. However, even with heat protection, you should make sure the tools aren't set too hot. Straightening irons at 200 degrees Celsius aren't necessary; 180 degrees Celsius will do just fine; they achieve the same effect and are gentler on your natural hair and your extensions. If you're not busy, let your hair air dry. It's like a treatment for damaged hair.

3. Use specific Extension care products and styling tools

Especially when it comes to hairbrushes, you should use a specialExtension brush Pay attention to a comb that separates your hair while also adding shine thanks to the wild bristles. The combs also massage your scalp and stimulate circulation, providing your hair with the ideal nutrients.

An important note about Tape-in extensions is their behavior after washing your hair. If some strands are falling out, you've used the wrong product at home or the water is too hot. Pay close attention and change your shampoo and conditioner if necessary. Oils, silicones, alcohol, and sulfur are particularly bad.

If you want to remove your tape-ins, always use a tape remover and avoid simply ripping them out.

4. Dye your hair

You can dye some of our extension styles, but not all. You should be careful and only make certain color changes. Bleaching isn't really possible, as it would be too damaging to the hair. But darker is always possible, of course. So, consider buying lighter extensions that you can adjust to your exact hair tone using toner and darker dye.

5. Braid your hair at night

The title says it all. The friction from your bedsheets and any kind of movement at night can not only create a static charge in your hair, they can also damage the cuticle of your extensions. So, you'll look like Albert Einstein when you wake up the next day, and your hair will become brittle more quickly. However, by tying it back in a braid or putting it in a bun, you can better protect it and keep it looking healthy and vibrant for longer.

Here are a few tips for unusual hairstyles with extensions:

Clip-in Extensions

Before you put your clips in, you can style them. Simply clip them in somewhere (there are special clips for this), and you'll have both hands free to curl your hair or straighten your clips.

Now, lightly tease your natural hair at the roots and then insert the clips at a slight angle. The closer to your face, the higher the edge, and the closer to the back of your head, the lower it should be. This will make your hair fall more naturally and avoid any noticeable bumps. Fix it with hairspray to keep the clips in place all day and night.

Approach

When it comes to greasy roots, often the only solution is dry shampoo. The ingredients in these products are usually not suitable for extensions. We have two alternatives for you: first, using baby powder, and second, a partial wash.

Partial washes are the safest method. Simply wash the roots and avoid the rest of the hair.

Baby powder has the advantage of being less damaging than dry shampoo. Simply dust it on and comb it out, and your hair will look fresh again.

Curls

For most people with natural curls, curls don't start right at the roots. So, when creating curls, start in the middle of your hair. This way, they'll last longer.

You can create curls without heat using braids. Use a little texturizing spray or hairspray and braid one, two, or even more braids, depending on how small you want your curls. This will create dreamy curls overnight.

But even if you need a hairstyle right away, the braiding trick works. Simply run a flat iron over your hair, and your dream curls are ready!
